The era of the landline telephone is clearly over, what with the infiltration of the mobile telephone into our lives. Mobile phones are everywhere nowadays and with over 4 billion of them worldwide, there is no sign of them becoming defunct anytime soon.

One of the areas where landline numbers are still prominent is in the world of business. There are hardly any companies that use mobile numbers as a means for customers to contact them. Local and small businesses tend to use regional numbers too, which re-iterates the fact to customers that they are using somewhere local (as well as costing less for the phone call).

When you call a business it may also have 0845 numbers instead of regional numbers. These 0845numbers used to be charged at the same rate as a local number and were known as Lo-call numbers.
